So many DJs ask me what my secrets are, how I perform my tricks and routines, how I choose my music, how I plan my sets, how I've stayed at the top. In this course, for the first time, I share EVERYTHING. I've been wanting to make this course for many years, and I know it will help you to play better, and have more fun!
"The Magnificent" DJ Jazzy Jeff
DJ Jazzy Jeff's How To DJ Right is your unique chance to learn how to DJ the way I do it, direct from me. Music, transitioning, set planning, performing, scratching, gear... it's all covered in the 60 core lessons, 48 practice demos and eight modules of my first ever DJ course. You'll learn:
  • How to mix smoothly between genres, BPMs and styles, the "DJ Jazzy Jeff" way - Using modern DJ features such as loops, cues, effects and filters, plus clever use of acapellas, samples and more, I show you how I perform the smooth transitions I'm famous for, with all types of music
  • How to approach DJing in the same way that I do - Get ready to get inside my mind! You'll learn how I approach the art of DJing, and discover how to incorporate skills like perfect timing, inspired track choice and amazing music selection into your own DJing
  • How to build a great music collection like mine - You'll learn how to think about music in the way I do, plus all the practical stuff: How to find music of all genres and styles, how I prepare my music, how I pack my crates...
  • The exact scratch techniques I use - No matter how simple or complex a routine you see me do, there are actually only four scratch techniques I use, and I show you how to perform them - plus you get additional drills to help you to master them
  • How to perform tricks like "juggles", "back-to-backs" and "double-ups" - Whatever level you're at, this is your chance to master these iconic hip-hop turntablist techniques, many of which I actually helped to make famous back in the day!
  • Insider knowledge from me about DJ gear - I shares tips and tricks to help you get the most from your gear, whatever type you use. I also shares my exact personal equipment and software settings
  • Tips for playing all types of gigs - Clubs, livestreams, private parties, huge festivals - I've played them all, and I share insider advice on how to successfully play them
  • The tricks behind my most iconic DJ routines - Peter Piper, Rock The Bells, Live At Union Square… I introduce you to these routines and more, and shows you exactly how they’re done, with close-ups and breakdown, so you can try them for yourself
  • ...and much more...
I've got a unique video/audio "Inspiration Mix" for you, too...
100% exclusive to this course, I've produced a special hour-long DJ mix. With music from the whole of my career, and including all of my best-known tricks and routines, this mix is yours on video and audio for you to watch, learn from, and enjoy. It's a never-before seen way of watching me perform a DJ mix, with full "laptop view" -  and it's only for students of my course.
Let me talk you through the curriculum:

Module 1: "Introduction"

I explain what you’re going to get from the course, give you exclusive insight into my career, and get you thinking like me, by sharing the most important things DJing has taught me. I also share my approach to gear and technology, plus I give you an hour-long “Inspiration Mix” - the mix this course is based around.

Module 2: "How I Get & Prepare My Music"

I start you thinking about DJing the way I do, by talking about how I approach music, and giving you tips and advice on building a collection. To me, it is all about “good” music and “bad” music, and I explain how I separate collecting great music from figuring out how to DJ with any particular track - something I'm sure you'll want to start doing too.

Module 3: "Fundamentals & Scratching"

With the music nailed, next I teach you the importance of counting and timing (“the bodyclock”), my four main scratches, how to loop intros, how to use acapellas, ways to use scratching in transitions, as well as how to use samples. This module gets you well on your way to being able to do much of what I show you in my "Inspiration Mix".

Module 4: "The Added Spice"

With the fundamentals all laid down, in this module you'll continue to build on your new skills, learning the tricks, transitions and techniques I refer to as “added spice”. These are the additions that will help you fill out your performances and get them closer to the level of mine.

Module 5: "Musicality In My Mixing"

Now you've got the biggest transition techniques in the bag, I teach you how to keep things “musical”. For me, techniques are great, but if you’re not respecting (and hopefully adding to) the musicality of the tracks you’re playing, you’re doing it wrong. So in this module, I focus on all the tricks that can help you do that.

Module 6: "How I Use Double Copies"

With your sets now sounding great and packed with new skills, it's time to get flash! Here I teach all things “two copies”, with lessons on double ups, back to backs, and of course juggling. There’s something for everyone here, whatever level you’re at - and I also share insights into why and where you should use these techniques.

Module 7: "My Signature Routines"

Peter Piper, Rock The Bells, Live At Union Square… Now, for the first time ever, anywhere, I teach my signature routines, talk about how they came to be, and show you exactly how they’re done. With close-ups, breakdowns and learning tools, this is your chance to attempt some of them yourself!

Module 8: "My Performing Tips"

DJing means performing. So in this module, I share how I approach DJ performances, showing you how to prepare for different types of gigs, how I read and react to the crowd, how I handle performing with others, and even how I prepare for and perform my DJ livestreams.

If you're a total beginner to scratching, Digital DJ Tips has included extra lessons from its scratch training, to help you get up to speed in double quick time. Plus, here we've included bonus training tools such as annotated practice demos, to help make learning all of my tricks simple and fun.

Hang on, is this THE DJ Jazzy Jeff who'll be teaching me?
Yes, your tutor is the REAL DJ Jazzy Jeff! The very same DJ Jazzy Jeff behind one of the biggest hip-hop hits of all time, the Grammy-winning "Summertime", with childhood friend Will Smith. The same DJ Jazzy Jeff who also acted with Will in TV's The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air. The same DJ Jazzy Jeff who's DJed everywhere from Tomorrowland to the President's birthday party. THAT DJ Jazzy Jeff...
"What will I get from this course?"
You’ll be able to DJ like DJ Jazzy Jeff. You’ll learn how he discovers, chooses and prepares his tunes, how he organises playlists, how he comes up with his iconic transitions, and how to perform those transitions for yourself. More importantly than that, though, he teaches you how to approach DJing how he does, so you not only master your gear, but start forging your own style, based around your own music.
"I don’t have a pro set-up like Jeff, can I still do this?"
Yes. This is not a course about DJ gear or software. Jeff happens to use Serato software, and Pioneer and Rane gear, but the course could equally have been taught on other brands. Throughout the course both Jeff and the tutors explain how to do what's taught on any gear - so whether you use a $200 controller or a $2000 one, Serato, Rekordbox, Traktor or Virtual DJ, controllers or turntables, the course has got you covered.
"Is this just a scratch course?"
No. the scratching taught here is what is needed to cover the basics of what Jeff does, plus he talks in some detail about his iconic routines. It's more about mixing, transitioning, music choice, musicality... the bigger picture of what it takes to DJ like Jeff, of which scratching is only a part.
Does Jeff properly teach music selection and transitions?
Yes - in fact, it's a large part of the course. Jeff actually believes that this is one of the areas DJs typically need the most help with. So he teaches how he chooses, gets, prepares and organises his tunes, how he programmes sets, and the "hidden" decisions about what to mix into what, when and how - all the things you could never figure out on your own by just watching him perform.
"I am new to DJing. Will this course be too complicated for me?"
All you need to know coming into the course is the basics (Jeff won’t be showing you how to plug your gear in or how to get from one track to the next). But as long as you are a fan of music, and you're keen to learn to DJ like Jeff does, you’ll be good: The course is made in such a way that you'll understand and be able to follow it as it slowly ramps up the skill level.
"Is the music all hip hop?"
Jeff uses hip hop, Latin, disco, funk, soul, rock, a bit of house, old music, new music... the emphasis is on giving you the skills to play the music that you love, whatever that might be. As Jeff himself says, there's only "good music and bad music"...
"Will I be locked into any payments, or do I have to do this in a certain timeframe?"
No, to both! The price you pay is the full price of the course - that’s it. No subscriptions, no further payments. The complete course, 100% yours. What’s more, it’s yours for life, including any future upgrades. Start today, tomorrow, next year. Come back as often as you want, whenever you want. Take as long as you want to finish it. We’ll always be here to help you, whenever that may be. Buy today to lock in this price.
Do you supply the music Jeff uses?
Jeff uses his own music in this course, much of which is unreleased and unavailable. However, every student gets a free exclusive three-month subscription to Beatsource Link, a DJ music streaming service that works in all DJ software, including Serato, the software Jeff uses. Of course, you can follow along with your own tunes - this is probably the best way to take the course.

There are many choices out there for people wanting to learn DJ skills, from free YouTube videos, all the way up to university courses that demand years of commitment. So why do so many people choose Digital DJ Tips? Here are three big reasons...

As well as being an authoritative, respected and globally recognised and Serato certified DJ school, DigitalDJTips.com has since 2010 grown to be one of the biggest DJ tech websites in the world, with 250,000 unique visitors a month, and established and popular YouTube, Facebook and Instagram channels with over 750,000 followers and we have a popular weekly live DJ TV show, which is watched by as many as 25,000 DJs each episode. We also wrote the book on DJing, "Rock The Dancefloor!" by Phil Morse (an Amazon bestseller). We are right where it's happening.

Since we delivered our very first course in 2011, we've put high quality teaching at the heart of what we do. We have a proven system for teaching that's not only clear so beginners can easily follow along, but also thorough, taking students as far as they want to go, right to pro level. We prefer action over theory, and showing over telling, and we understand that coaching is just as important as information - in fact, information on its own is rarely enough! We also understand that our students have limited time, so all our training is designed to get you results fast, and fit around your busy life.

Online DJ training is unfortunately a bit of a "Wild West". But unlike many of the operations  out there, when you join us, you get much more than just a username and a password. We have a full-time team to make sure you're looked after, and we take our duty of care for you seriously.  All courses have in-course tutor help, right on tap. And if you ever need any extra help, with anything from technical stuff to billing enquiries, know that two of our team members are dedicated only to customer support. And of course, with our StudentHub and StudentLive community, you get to participate in the biggest DJ school student network anywhere in the world.

Just like with all of our DJ training, DJ Jazzy Jeff's How To DJ Right comes with our cast-iron, no questions, 12 month money-back guarantee, which gives you more than enough time to get the results or get your money back - the risk is all ours.

If at any time in your first year of ownership you decide it's not for you (for absolutely any reason), just tell us and we'll refund you with a smile. Nobody else offers a guarantee like this.
